I've become such a slacker with my blog! Since my last post Chelsea had an indoor soccer game, which her team lost. :( This was her first real indoor game so hopefully she and her team will get better at it. It is much different than outdoor soccer. On Sunday, after church, I went with Mike to some of his (and now my) friend's house to watch football. It's been many, many years since I've done that but we had fun so that's all that counts.
On Monday I started school. On MWF I have Family Relations and Statistics. I think both will be okay. I will certainly like Family Relations better but my statistics professor is a young woman who has a reputation for making this class interesting. I am glad my last math class had a section on statistics so I won't be completely ignorant!
On Tues. and Thurs. I have Human Behavior and the Social Environment (HBSE) and Human Development. The HBSE class will be fun because I already know 7 of the 16 students in the class. Another fun part of this class is the requirement to create a book all about me. This is something the scrapbooking community is always promoting and now that I have to do it for my grade I'll actually get it done. Human Development should be interesting too, but this class has about 60 students which makes it less fun because it almost has to be taught by lecture because there are just too many students to have a lot of real discussion.
I also have an online course, Library Science, which is about using the library and other resources for research. Now I just have to be disciplined to get that done since it's at my own pace!
Mike told me the other day that he liked me before he went to Japan and knew he was going to ask me out even then, but since he knew he'd be gone for two years he decided to wait until he got back. Isn't that sweet! I had no clue! Things are going well for us and I've dated him longer than anyone I've dated in 15 years! In fact, I haven't dated any guy for more than 6 weeks since Chelsea was born. According to Mike our first date was August 16th, so we are doing pretty well so far!
On a more somber note, three Airmen from Hill AFB were killed this week in Iraq. Although I didn't know them I did know the fiance of the female Airman who was killed. I used to be the first sergeant for the unit they are assigned to so I do know many of their coworkers. As Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technicians, they knew the hazards of their jobs and were well trained to carry out their duties, but this situation is still so terrible. I sure hope the President know's what he's doing now and can get us out of there soon.
My friend, Tammy, is still in Baghdad so I ask you to please keep her in your prayers. She is due to return in March and I just hope she does so safely and in one piece.
